Such a great crowd and vibe this past weekend, thanks for makin' it great. This week's winners were happy.

From left (click to enlarge):

Sheri (left) comes to Brooklyn from Westchester regularly to hit the Flea, which is sweet. She went to Pratt and likes to visit the old neighborhood. She's with her daughter Chelsea (center), but her son will be the recipient of the #2 custom shirt from Charlie + Sarah. (Is the little guy 2 years old? We're dying to know why 2!) Charlie (right) and wife Sarah (and 2 little ones) have a super-popular kids (and big kids) clothing booth at the Flea every weekend, stocked with "chopper," "lorry," and "wellies" Anglicism onesies, T's, and hoodies, plus the "superhero" monogram line and all sorts of other fun. Find them at C13 in Fort Greene and #16 at One Hanson, weekly.

Aaron (left) was raised in our fine borough, lives in Midwood. First time at the Flea, his pal saw our Facebook page and noticed the Hunt. Aaron was really into the Flea, especially after finding the vintage zodiac chain—he chose Virgo for a friend. Here he is with David from Loyalty + Blood, who make the coolest t-shirts, jewelry, and tote bags. They're a Flea standby, and the nicest folks. B3 in Fort Greene, #43 at One Hanson, weekly.

Another flock of Fleasters at One Hanson this weekend, thanks for keepin' on comin'. (We're there Saturday and Sunday again this weekend FYI.)

From left (click to enlarge):

Winner Rachel (second from left) was visiting pal Elise (to her right) with fellow Bostonian Kate (left), and came upon the tres chic French shoe "lasts." Rachel might try her hand at making some shoes, or maybe just display the hot high-heel molds in her pad. Lovely Rebecca (right) was hiding them in her always-stunning Windsor Place Antiques booth, which is packed with glass domes, product tins, windup clocks, vintage school maps (note Eurasia in the background), and of course hunting targets. She's in #39 most every weekend, the bomb.

Kate (center) and Jeff (left) have been to the Flea, but not at One Hanson until Sunday. They live in Carroll Gardens and were wise enough to spot the patchwork ellie from Laos in David and David's Artisan Emporia booth. The Davids' Emporia is a sort of market within a market at the Flea, featuring handcrafted designs culled from a global network of cooperatives. We like AE's approach a lot—fully Fair Trade, friendly—and find them distinct from the mountain of imported schlock passing for quality goods everywhere. They're in #12 every weekend.

Looks like that New Yorker article is having an effect: two Manhattanites won the Scavenger Hunt this weekend. Where Brooklyn at?!

It was bearded Charles' (left) first time at the Flea, which he learned about from reading, yes, The New Yorker. He's from the big island, and was evidently excited to find the miniature metal piggy and horsey, which are super-cute. Katie of Rain Lily says they're made in India using the ancient "lost wax" metal casting technique. She's deeply dedicated to selling handmade items made by folks with less all over the world, especially women, and her eye for interesting stuff is awesome: Cambodian scarves, Northern India prosperity hens, jewelry, all kinds of pretty things. She's in #51 at One Hanson every weekend.

Lee is also from Manhattan, but he wouldn't tell us much beyond that. That's cool man. He found the Jacques + Julia cookbook in Mario's Avalon Books booth, which is always jampacked with interesting used books as well as Mario's artist pals graffiti-style small prints, which are in the background. Grafadelic!

Daylight Savings clearly took a tool on Fleasters this weekend: No winner Saturday (the cameo!), and a late winner Sunday. Hmmmm.

Melody and James (middle and right) from Clinton Hill hadn't been to the Flea in a bit, but in a lucky late-afternoon glance downstairs in the vault they spotted the rosewood coaster+caddy set. Such a cool Hunt item! Dina and Rob of Satyricon donated it (their second in a month, our mistake), as part of their self-proclaimed mix of "industrial, modern, and glam." (Dina's cousin Ricky (left) has been manning the booth of late.) They kill it with quality every weekend down in #79.

Early-bird winners this week, likely catching the morning sun. Ahhh.

From left (click to enlarge):
EJ is from Bed-Stuy and Saturday was her first Flea. She normally works Saturdays, but after retiring from her longtime job as a postal worker she finally had the day free—free to Flea, that is. Lo and behold, she checks the website on her way out, spies the ruffled duffel full o'duds in the Tutek booth, and voila, EJ is a winner! Tutek inhabits #18 every weekend, doesn't like the camera, and is an expert vintage clothing dealer, specializing in advanced-preppy/Bean/Brooks Bros. finds. Top tier is Tutek!

Joey (right) lives on Court Street, brought his pals from Manhattan to see what the Flea buzz is all 'bout. Polly joined him in the stroller as they found the pretty teak vase around 10:30am. Susan kindly donated the item and hid it among her always-awesome collection of vintage loveliness: jewelry, smalls, lamps, a little furniture. She also writes a fun/funny blog. Don't miss her (aka Found by Susan Walker) in #36 every week.

Snow don't stop the Scavenging, surprise surprise. Here are this week's Hunter-Winners!

From left:
Intrepid Merrill (right) was hanging around at 10:00am sharp eyeing the Blue Meanie, having braved the snow from Windsor Terrace to find the Beatles cartoon icon. He asked Grace, "Am I allowed to find it this early?" Yup. Merril's a regular Fleaster, comes for the "stuff." Grace Napoleon has been a regular vendor for going on a year now, cruising in from Connecticut with her fabulous Flea finds as well as cute upcycled clothes and homewares she makes herself. She's also got the warmest little heart this side of the East River, find her in booth #62 at One Hanson most weekends.

Kevin (right) and his wife were checking the website Sunday morning and he spotted the awesome vintage Polaroid later in the day. Not surprising, since he's a former FBI man! Dennis was manning Susan Blank's vintage-frames booth ("Blank Frames," naturally), which is one of the Flea's most popular—and most awesome, too. Booth #54 weekly.

Saturday was a super-early winner (first hour), Sunday's happened later, despite a feverish Hunt. Both Scavengers were seemingly euphoric at their find. The Hunt was as it should be.

From left:
Sommer found the vintage bulldog framed photo within moments of the market opening—and it was well-hidden under a table on a side aisle. Kudos to Sommer the Scavenger! The providing vendor goes only by Sea Hair @ AOKNY and prefers to remain anonymous. You can find him in #15 every weekend, or here.

Abbey became a Flea Facebook fan over the weekend, saw the Pyrex dining set, and as a plate collector she was on the Hunt. Abbey entered the room on the mezzanine (booth #67), stopped, took a deep breath, and, stunned for a moment, asked Carmella "Is that it?" Carm said yes, but Abbey had to ask again since it was so late in the day. She was very excited!

Carmella is Mama Can't Sing, and she's got a great mish-mash of clothing, jewelry, housewares, and everything in between—vintage and self-designed—up on the mezzanine every weekend. A sweetie too!

Heartwarming Hunt this week, thanks for keeping it pumping strong.

From left:
Nick (left) treated finding the chalice like it was the Holy Grail from Raiders of the Lost Ark, and promptly bought a bottle of vino to fill it properly. It was his first Flea, he's from the Slope, and much wine was drunk from it that day. Cheers Nick! Rick (right) works with Dina and Rob, who are new to the Flea as of One Hanson, but they've been killing it with their Mid-Century finds of every flavor: furniture, lamps, household items, art, all great modern stuff. They also have a spot at the Center 44 Midtown showroom, where they're known as Satyricon. Which basically means they're really serious vendors and can get you stuff if they don't have it at the Flea.

Irina has been to the Flea a bunch, but in her first time at the bank over Valentine's weekend she got lucky—and found the pretty heart-shaped locket. She lives in Park Slope and works at home for Intel, likes movies and cooking. Sweet! Friendly vendor Joseph of Estate of Art Vintage Lifestyle had the perfect Hunt item for the weekend, and generally has the perfect vintage outfit or jewelry for every occasion as well. He's as solid as they come, every weekend at every Flea. Joe's a star!

A happy gal on Saturday; a vendor root canal on Sunday. The chalice shall return at a later date...

Amy (center) lives in the Slope, had been to one Flea last summer. She brunches every couple weeks with her gal pals (Rachel, left, and Gennie) and decided to make the Flea the food destination this time. When they were trying on gloves at the vendor next door, Amy spotted the pretty earrings in the Guru booth (#1 for those playing at home). (She's wearing them today fyi.)

Another coupla happy Hunters at the Flea at One Hanson this weekend, scavenging for Superman and Mickey.

From left:
It was Jenny's (center) second Flea, first at One Hanson, and she came all the way from Princeton, NJ, on that frigid Saturday. Word up Jenny! She's a crafter herself, makes totes, and she was crafty in finding the Superman #1 reprint downstairs in Aline (left) and Gio's Bleecker St. Antiques, a staple on the lower level in #76, where you can everything from records to folk-art stools to Art Deco cat pitchers and on and on. A hunter's paradise.

On Sunday Otis (right) ventured upstairs to the mezzanine and stumbled upon Mr. Mickey in Hide and Hiro's shared booth. Apparently Otis creates color-themed areas and dioramas around his apartment, and Mickey will fit perfectly into the red zone he's currently fashioning. Otis=110% Flea! Hideya Sagawa normally shares with his pal Kenji of Amoskeag XX, the LES denim boutique and big-time supplier, and features Americana vintage clothing and jewelry, some with a Southwestern focus (his turquoise jewelry and belt buckles are not to be missed!), all of it expertly picked. Look for him upstairs in #72 with Hiro.

From left:
Rickey (right) rode his Vespa all the way down from Washington Heights on Saturday morning to find the Indian print block in—where else?—the My Little India booth. Rickey loves the Flea, first time at the bank, works for a church, braved chilly winds on his Vespa. Well done! Here he is with lovely Avian of MLI, which is upstairs on the mezzanine in #73 every weekend, under the insane giant stained-glass windows. They bring everything from hand-dyed soft cotton comforters and pillows to Avian's handmade leather bags to unique wooden furniture and unique items like Rickey's new print block.

First-time Fleaster Alisha (right) ventured to Brooklyn from the East Village Sunday and stumbled upon the glow in the dark undies—for men. She said she's gonna wear 'em herself; we'll leave that one alone. Jamie Xmas of Antique Wardrobe was harboring the vintage Day-Glo thong in booth #1, where he holds court with the coolest old-time vintage clothes and tchotchkes, displayed with a sense of whimsy. For the first time last week another vendor won the Hunt. Insanity. We had to check the rules and regs, but found no clause barring such Scavenging.

The lucky winner was none other than Monkey (center), of WrecordsByMonkey—the record-vinyl-recycled bracelet/clock guy and all-around excellent chap—who apparently is really into Haitian art. Who knew?

Monkey scoured the Flea all Saturday morning, only to stumble across the beautiful painted wooden bowl in his neighbors Lionel and Constant's booth. Again, insanity. Upon victory, Monkey proclaimed, "I now have a beautiful place to hide my personal green planet." Exactly!

Lionel and Constant, as you may recall from their Vendor of the Week, collect all kinds of cool vintage stuff on trips to their Haiti homeland. When their mother passed away in Haiti, they returned to where they were born to find that she left the care of six orphans to her two sons. They were also modest underground hip-hop stars in the 80s, it's true. They're at both Fleas, and will be at 81 Front St. in DUMBO for the winter pop-up, which starts Dec. 5+6.

Not much boo! in the Hunt this weekend, but it was a treat for the winners.

Clockwise from top left:
Kara (left) and Konrad (not pictured) had been meaning to Flea from Harlem for months, finally made the trek. They checked the blog before leaving, caught a glimpse of the Hunt items, happened upon the funky hematite chicken-leg tongs in the morning and we're happy to win. Konrad told Amy (right) that his grandma once gave him a nutcracker in the shape of ladies' legs, "So now we have a pair." Stunning. Amy and Alen's Birdhouse Jewelry remains one of the most popular booths at the Flea, and they never miss a date. C7 in Fort Greene, I-2 under the Bridge, Gifted too.

At 11:02 am Deb (right) heard someone say, "Please tell me no one found it yet. Oh man is that the Hunt shirt, I would die for that." Scavengers! Needless to say, Riley was psyched to find the Beach Boys/Black Flag mash-up T (so cool!) in the Miss Wit booth, before scurrying back to work. Deb churns out timely and funny political ("Witty"), pretty ("Fancy"), and youngster ("Kiddies") T's that fun people of all ages love.

Vendor Nick Kass-Johnson (left) transcribed the Sunday Hunt thusly: "Robert (right) lives near South St. Seaport and is a retired medical-records administrator. Nowadays, he seeks out original animation cells and has a superb collection of Walt Disney's Fantasia, though he is on the lookout for cells of the dancing Chinese mushrooms. He originally heard about the Flea in Fort Greene in a newspaper."

Robert found The Beatles' The Beatles Again/Hey Jude LP among Nick's crazy-awesome records—everything from early U2 to rare Sonic Youth to a split John Cage-Steve Reich LP from 1970 that Senor has on repeat at home. Such good stuff! Nick's also in a far-out band called Acorn Chainsaw when he's not in E31 in Fort Greene and I-56 under the Bridge.

Not much boo! in the Hunt this weekend, but it was a treat for the winners.

From left:
Margaret (right) came from the East Village in search of the bicycle print, and found it by 11:30am at—where else?—Taliah's Bicycle Paintings booth. A-doy. Taliah has been Fleaing since Day One, and we bought a T and print from her one year at the Dumbo Art Fair, pre-Flea. She's always creating new takes on her first love: finding cool/weird bikes to depict, creating a bicycle coloring book for kids, going upscale with commissions. Her rise in popularity has corresponded with the recent uptick in NYC cycling, but we credit her talent and acumen not the trend. She's a vicious cyclist! L12 in Fort Greene, F-14 at the Bridge pretty much every weekend.

Barbara's (center) lived in Brooklyn since '95 (old-school!), calls the Heights home (like many Bridge Fleasters), she's a creative services professional. Barb was overjoyed to discover the vintage brass shark pendant necklace in Loyalty + Blood's booth on Sunday. L+B's David (left) and Maggie are: a) hyperloyal Fleasters, taking the rain or shine seriously; b) megatalented designers of T's, jewelry, and totes (the ones with all the ornate letters on them, plus the legendary Flea Bag); and c) supersmart vendors who update their stock every week to keep it fresh for loyal shoppers like you. We like them. B3 in Fort Greene, I-12 at the Bridge, every week.

Donna%20Jo%20SH%20winner.jpg In the midst of the Sunday hoopla, the Hunt was almost overlooked—almost. Donna Jo's lamp lit the way to Scavenge heaven. Jessica Fish (left) lives in Boerum Hill, has been to the Fort Greene Flea a bunch, decided to bring her mom (from Brooklyn suburb Maplewood, NJ) to the Bridge Flea on this gorgeous Sunday. Jessica had perused the blog on Friday, wasn't necessarily looking for the item, then happened upon it around 1pm—score! Donna Jo Brady of Re-Surface Design takes photos of dilapidated Brooklyn buildings and structures and transforms them into edgy lamps, which are always a hit at the Flea. She'll be at Gifted too. The weather, um, could have been more awesome this past weekend, but somehow Saturday held up enough for the Flea to flourish, if modestly. Hunters persevered nonetheless, naturally. We only have info on one winner, awaiting the other...

Kate (left) just moved from Indiana to Brooklyn Heights, where she works as a nanny. She's never won anything before, so she was pretty psyched to find the cute earth-mover onesie in Brooklyn Junior's booth. She's gonna send it to a good friend back home in Richmond, Indiana, who just had a baby. Nice. She's with BK Junior's Nadia, she of the fire-red hair, who churns out stylish, versatile kids clothing over in B1 every darn week. Nadia also just launched a new shop of her own, after 2 years of success at the Flea, over on the corner of Myrtle + Clinton Ave. Do check it out!

Fleas in full effect this past weekend, pretty much the way we dreamt 'em up way back in November '07. Thanks to all for coming out! Hunts were over quick, as the items were awesome.

From left:
Monica (left) lives in Clinton Hill, avidly reads the Flea blog, but this was her first visit to the market. Hmmm. She beamed with delight after coming early to scope out the booths and then spotting the "Manhattan Cleaners" laundry bag in Three Potato Four's snazzy booth. Here she is with Stu, who came up from Virginia with all those letters and numbers. Three Potato's back Oct. 24.

Jessica (left) lives in Bushwick, she's a photographer from Houston. Jess has been looking for a Hunt item since the beginning of the summer, finally scored it. Not sure the Bearded Man baby T will fit her perfectly, but certainly a toddler in her life will be made happy sometime soon. She's with Erica of Species by the Thousands, whose groovy designs feel Brooklyn hippie and yet simply chic, from her T's and sweatshirts to her jewelry and accessories. She's at both markets most weekends, discover her for yourself.

Saturday was going great until the R word showed up and drenched us. Sal chipped his tooth that morning but still managed to come through for the Hunt. Respect!

From left:

Nicole (left) lives in Hoboken and she and her sister had "Wendy" dolls as girls in the early '80s. She fondly remembered playing with her mullet for hours on end, so cute. She found the tracksuited doll in Sal's Tincan Trading Post booth before noon. Sal is new to the Flea but already feels like a regular, trekking down from Sullivan County with all kinds of antique goodies. He's got stories in spades too. He noted how Wendy's mullet and soft perm hair was extra-enhanced and fluffy from all the humidity Saturday. Ha. He's around L15 on Saturdays.

Debra (right) saw the psychedelic Woodstock poster --more far-out than groovy--on sunny Sunday, and moments later it was hers. Lovely Cara had trucked it in from Detroit for the debut of her Dolly Rocker's Detroit Vintage booth last weekend, where she had a blast and got right into the spirit of the Flea. Her dad is Carl Lundgren, whose rock posters (including this one) are legendary and gorgeous. Cara sells digital prints of those, plus cool rocker vintage clothing, and her friend's great architectural salvage. Nice mix!

It rained on Sunday's Hunt (tired of that refrain), but Saturday was just perfect. Thanks for comin' out!

Cutie Amy (right), a Flea regular and Fort Greener (one and the same?), snatched the handmade pillow from the City Owl booth a little after noon, a fine fall find. Ashley (left) and her hubby's vintage biz, one of our '09 faves, focuses on industrial items for the cool Brooklyn shoebox apartment: foundry molds, metal assembly-line baskets, and a new focus on end/coffee tables, chests of drawers, and chairs made from reclaimed wood and metal items they find. The stuff is super-cool and affordable, check it out. Don't miss their awesome wire lamps and b+w paintings by the hubby. E37 every Saturday (by the pupusas), Bridge Flea some Sundays.

Hunt didn't take long this weekend, what with the sun and breeze. We heard Orlando Bloom was in Fort Greene Saturday, can anyone confirm? That would be cool.

From left:

Pretty Nancy, a self-proclaimed "vintagista," found the enamel brooch in the Happy Hill Vintage booth, where daughter-mom duo Daphra and Ann have been having a ball for the last month or so. They do the high/low-brow clothing and accessories thang, and live nearby so they love to hang--they're even making videos of the Flea now. Daphra works by day at DonorsChoose.org, an e-commerce website that connects public schools in need of resources with donors, which we figured deserves a plug. They're in E35 on Saturdays.

Sunday's winner was a doozy. Monkey (left, he of WrecordsByMonkey) decided to hide his recycled-record-vinyl bracelet in Lionel and Constant's booth nearby, since all Monkey makes is record bracelets. Cassidy, new to New York via Montreal and attending Senor alma mater The New School, was at the Flea for the second time and was scouring the Bridge market for the Hunt item. For hours apparently. She found it, she was really happy, we were happy too. Monkey plays in W28 Saturdays and I-25 Sundays.

On Sunday Diane (right), visiting from San Francisco with her family, found the two-sided glass pendant featuring a tree branch on one panel and the Brooklyn Bridge on the other in Joan's always happenin' Citybitz booth. Diane "read about the Flea somewhere" and knew she wanted to visit on her 9-day NYC visit. Back on track at the Hunt, with some shiny, happy winners at this weekend's Hunt, all locals. Thanks for braving the heat to Flea!

Pictured: (Left) Neko Case on stage at All Points West and Flea Scavenger Hunt Winner Valerie (Right), both wearing a Squid Attack tee from Gnome Enterprises (http://www.gnomeenterprises.net)

Valerie took her scooter to Fort Greene from Cobble Hill bright and early Saturday morning and was the first (of many) to spot the Squid Attack tee in Ezra and Joshua's Gnome Enterprises booth. (That's her on the right, next to Neko Case wearing the same T.) Valerie just graduated from nursing school and is on the hunt for a job (anyone hiring?). It was her first Flea and she was giddy with excitement--she said she never wins anything, insisted on wearing it immediately.

Gnome is Brooklyn-based, does hand-silkscreened T's for men, women, and kiddies culling inspiration from old-school video games and eco/political stuff. They're off the rest of August but back Labor Day, promising a new T design every week from then on. W22 in Fort Greene.

Jeremy and Leah moved to Brooklyn Heights from Detroit a couple weeks ago, first Flea Sunday. They were psyched to find the Belgian fishery poster in Rebecca's (right) always awesome Bid Brooklyn booth. The Hunters were quick to the kill on such a pretty weekend. We, however, were not as speedy or effective in our reportage, for which we apologize. We have one photo of a winner, and no names or info. We'll totally get on that from now on.

Thomas and Liza (above, left and right) found the chocolate-swirl soap in Eddie (center) and Megan's Australian Scent booth on Sunday. Thomas and Liza are from Battery Park City by way of Toronto, and it was their first time at the Flea. They weren't even looking for the photo, but Thomas saw it on Friday in some email update and recognized it immediately--serendipitous! The AS kids are the Flea's mainstay homemade body product folks, concocting soothing and healing lotions and potions that are all organic and small-batch. They're sweethearts too. W41 in Fort Greene and I-24 at the Bridge, every friggin' week.

The other items were as follows. (Looking for info on both those winners if you're out there.)
The suede ID holder was courtesy of Matthew of Steel Cake (and Pratt U.), whose chunky-sporty watch and tag-clock designs attract cool-hunters of all stripes to Fort Greene on Saturdays (he's in E17 or thereabouts). Matt's up and coming, check him out.

Photographer Amy Burchenal stepped up to the Hunt in her Flea debut--a noble effort. Her symmetrical black and white photo of the Brooklyn Bridge (that's a propos for those playing at home) was snapped up at like 11:01am. Amy also sells her groovy NYC photo-poem books, search 'em out to learn more. She'll be back at the Bridge this Sunday.

We try to get there in time, snap a pic, find a pen, get all the info, and then find the scrap of paper we wrote it all down on. Usually it works, but last week it didn't. Luckily the friendly winners phoned in to our home office with their info, and voila. Finders/keepers indeed.

Hillary (center, left) and Bryan love fleas, made their first double-river crossing from Cranford, NJ, to the Flea and were actively on the Hunt. They scored the GDR nutcracker in friendly Karen's Vintage Closet, home to purses, accessories, and knick-knacks galore. Here's Karen (left) looking lovely, as she does every Saturday in ye olde V2.

Danielle (center, right) from Prospect-Lefferts Gardens found the magic ribboned box at 11am in the always happening Liddabit Sweets booth. Inside were Liddabit's scrumptious caramels, including the insane beer-and-pretzel and sea-salt varieties, which are soul-enhancing. Liz (left) and Jen (right) are like candy scientists, reinventing classic candies using local/artisanal ingredients and their French Culinary Institute pastry-program prowess. (Check out this "Hey Brooklyn" interview for more info.) Recently they've used potato chips in one candy bar, and roasted barley in their honey lollipops. To paraphrase Hollywood Shuffle, it's conceptual chocolate! It's also yum. They're in E4 or E6 every friggin' Saturday, and they're nice.

From left:
Ashley from Williamsburg found the cool knit earrings in her second visit to the Flea, this time with her parents visiting from Akron, Ohio. Here she is with Melody of Melody's Addiction, who's gone from the non-profit world to full-time jewelry-maker. Courageous! Melody grew up in the same rural Central Maine community as Senor Flea--she's from Creep City, Senor from South Solon--and we're proud as punch that her work is starting to get the notice it deserves, as in this recent Nostrand Park blog post. She's in W46 in Fort Greene every other Saturday.

Great days for Hunting, which is why the game was up within an hour at both markets. Fun while it lasted...

From left:
Mike found the cute Chibi Warrior stamp set in sharp designer Isabel Roxas' booth at 10:50am in Fort Greene. The stamps show the Warrior in 5 different poses, all of which display Isabel's sort of anime/artiste take on illustration and design. Mike works for a record label (remember those?), is a frequent Fleaster, and thought the stamps would make a good present for a pal. "Snooze you lose" was his advice for future Hunters, and he's right.

Dory from Brooklyn Heights (a native no less) made her first Flea trek the Sunday before, realized we do the Hunt, and spotted the Paste T-Shirts "NYCKnife T" across the yard while perusing some vintage dresses. She liked it on the website, loved it in person, and at 11:51am it was all hers. Here she is with Paste honcho Jason, who does the Sat/Sun Fort Greene/Bridge thing every weekend, to much hoopla.

So the Hunt ended up happening on Saturday not Sunday, much to Senor's surprise. We'll be back on track this weekend!

Kate found the wooden owl in the Jarontiques booth, manned with aplomb by none other than Jaron. Jaron left his job in the music industry to Flea full-time--a noble pursuit if there ever was one--and last weekend was his return to the fold, unveiling scores of gorgeous glass colored vases, cool mid-century clocks, wooden figures and lamps (like the owl), and other "smalls" for the sophisticated Fleaster. That Jaron's a good egg, go crack him! V6 in Fort Greene, F22 under the Bridge, weekly.

Perfect scavenging weather at the Fleas, and the Hunt didn't last long (when does it anymore?). Earlybirds catch the Fleas!

Clockwise from upper left:
In a moment of clarity, Abby and Eric (right) from Crown Heights found the Boodles British Gin mirror at Sydney's Baxter's Bazaar booth in Fort Greene, where he unveils his treasure-seeking finds of the week. Sometimes it's giant metal cash registers, sometimes piles of century-old newspapers, sometimes vintage drinking tcotchkes. Eric and Abby "are gonna put it up," though they were slurring their words so it's hard to say really.

Reid and Karen (left) sauntered down to the Bridge from the East Village and promptly discovered the groovy lightbulb money clip in the always pretty Bonbon Oiseau booth. Deb (not pictured) makes gorgeous jewelry, money clips like this one, and hair adornments that fly out of her weekly FG and Bridge booths. C'est si bon!

Our Dumbo pal Rebecca (center) of Moontree Letterpress has branched out from her stationery base into these cute moss terrariums, which folks found Saturday and Sunday. She was a last-minute Hunt addition, so if you know the names of her winners feel free to pass 'em along.

Rainy day didn't stop the Hunt--then again what would?

Diana, Juan, and Eduardo, all from Clinton Hill (woot!), found the amber glass candlesticks in the always pleasing City Owl booth. Proprietress Ashley isn't pictured (she's the shutterbug), but her melange of metal industrial stuff, tabletops, and urban salvage all in an 8x8 is one of our finest '09 additions. The Owl sleeps (or not) in E38 Saturdays; check the Friday layout for their spot under the Bridge Sundays.

This fine lady (her name's on the way) scored the balsam-fir pillow from the Old Village Hall booth, which made its debut on Sunday under the Bridge. Scott (right) and Erica live in the East Village and upstate, where they have two shops in Andes, NY, Old Village Hall and Delaware Trading Post. Scott designs and silkscreens fabrics for upholstering chairs and pillows (that's Myrna Loy from The Thin Man on the pillow above), also designs interiors for shops and restaurants. They're a great coupla folks, hope to have 'em back soon.

Peggy Ram is her name, and she was at the Flea from New Jersey with her two daughters from Manhattan. (Thanks Kyle!)

The Hunt sprawled to both Fleas this weekend, but neither location took long to produce a winner. Scavenging knows no bounds!

Left to right:
Michaela is not only a Scavenger, she's also a vendor, having sold at the Flea a handful of times. As a Fleaster, she loves the tacos and Christina Stankard's delicate handmade jewelry. Here's Michaela (left), who calls the Chelsea Hotel home, with Christina and her new gorgeous freshwater pearl necklace. Christina's in E30 in Fort Greene every Saturday, and I39 under the Bridge on Sundays.

Lisa made her first trek to the Flea from Hoboken on Saturday, and around 1pm she discovered the polka-dot clutch in FunkyFanny's booth (where everything was $10 last week). Here's Lisa (left) with Funky Serci and Lisa's pal Brian from Jersey City. Lisa "likes winning." Simple. Serci Fanny moves around on Saturdays, but she's often near W5 or 6.

The inaugural Bridge Flea was a huge smash, and Maureen from Hopelawn, NJ, was feeling the vibe when she spotted the Ice-O-Mat hand crusher in Les and Loretta's Sarsaparilla booth. Here's Maureen with lovely Loretta. Maureen's daughter likes flea markets and found the Flea online. Les and Loretta will be back soon.

Word is out on the Hunt: Fleasters are scavenging high and low every Saturday morning, you can see it in their eyes. Our vendors love playing too--who doesn't love a game of hide-and-seek?

Left to right:
Leonor (left) is a regular from Crown Heights who "came to win," a spirit we appreciate. Here she is with Mark, the creative culinary mind behind Whimsy & Spice (his wife Jenna brings the design and finesse braun). Inside the mystery box were cookies, biscotti, brownies, and some of their insane homemade marshmallows. Like many of our food vendors (Salvatore, Nunu, Fine+Raw, Kumquat, Pizza Moto, Crop to Cup), we love W+S because they emerged and are growing on the same timeline as the Flea. Some folks call that community--we call it yummy. They're in E10 most Saturdays.

Lovely Lois (left) was visiting her daughter in the BK from Wilmington, Delaware, and found that cute pixie pushing a cart in John (right) and Stephanie's vintagesteph booth--inside one of the cool cabinets that John makes himself (they're a huge hit this season). John and Steph come down for Fort Greene and Dumbo most weekends from the New Hampshire coast (they run their own flea on the Mass. North Shore), and are as nice as can be. W20 most Saturdays.

The Hunt was all up in your (tabletop) grill on Saturday, which dodged another weather bullet at the Flea. It must be spring somewhere!

Left to right:
Sara (right) is a journalist who just moved to Fort Greene and made her first Flea visit this week. Logical progression: move, unpack, buy more stuff at the Flea--or just Scavenge for a vintage electric grill. Phyllis is an OG Flea vendor whose blog Reclaimed Home about renovating her Bed-Stuy brownstone has morphed into her offline booth of eccentricities, rejuvenated household items, and bizarro trinkets. Phyl=serious hoot. She's around C6 every Saturday.

Kristin (second from left) comes on the regular from Red Hook, because she enjoys the "unusualness" of the market. Alice and Carmen (right) of Groundworks, a southern Brooklyn nursery, sweetly donated the potted succulents, which were discovered right quick. What a gorgeous Flea! A nice cross-section of Fleasters comprised this week's Hunt winners, both of whom scavenged before noon--which is fast becoming the Hunt norm. The early bird catches the Flea!

Left to right:
Casey lives down the block on Vanderbilt Ave., and claims to have only missed 4 or 5 Fleas since Day One. (For proof, note his Flux Productions T.) Casey says he always know where the Hunt item is but lets other people win--only this time he couldn't resist the cowhide satchel, which Hope (right) and Sophia donated as part of their fab Go Bang! booth. They're in E12 most Saturdays.

Note: Casey runs a cute blog called Out About Brooklyn.

Dan (right) was visiting from Beantown (go Celts+Bruins+Sox!), and found the tiedyed scarf for his sister Anna (center), who lives in Brooklyn. Lovely Debbie (left) had it hidden in her gorgeous Martine's Dream booth, which features brightly colored clothes and accessories, often from India, every week in V11. (She also does Dumbo on Sundays now too.) Doesn't the Hunt bring people together so nicely? This photo says yes.

An early-morning sky spray couldn't slow down the Hunt, which had a decidedly cross-continental flavor this weekend.

Left to right:
Allegra (left) from Tucson, Arizona, checked the blog before leaving home, discovered the Hunt, and by 11am she was a winner! She found the cool vintage photograph in Peter and Jarka's Anodyne booth, which is filled with antique Americana, artistic oddities, and more every week in W47.

Erin (right) proudly represents with the WrecordsByMonkey bracelet she Scavenged--with Monkey himself happy to oblige at left. Erin was in town from Lebanon, Ohio, and the Flea was happy to welcome and reward her for trekking to the BK. WrecordsByMonkey are a Flea staple in W28, hawking their bracelets and other accessories made from recycled record-vinyl, and other cool kerchiefs, clocks, and more. (Forgive the BlackBerry pic!)

One of the most competitive and quality Hunts in Flea history ended quickly, as predicted. Not sure we've ever seen Fleasters so pleased to Scavenge as witnessed this weekend. Excellent sleuthing!

Left to right:
The kids plaid suitcase was found by Virginia Braun of Park Slope (via New Zealand) (right) at 10:52am. She snagged it in Val's Kings County Salvage booth, her newly launched indie biz for all things Americana that also make sense in your urban pad. Such good pickins in her booth--W1 in Fort Greene, 7/8/9 in Dumbo, every week. Yes, Virginia, there is a Flea Claus.

Afton Cissell was so psyched when she unearthed the 1926 atlas in Lon Black's booth at 12:25pm. Lon had hid it well, knowing it was coveted by blogreaders, smart move. Afton lives in an NYU dorm near Union Square, and this was her first Flea excursion, which made us a little misty-eyed frankly. The squeals of joy from Afton and pals were audible and downright joyous. Lon slings his amazing vintage postcards and printed ephemera in L9 in Fort Greene and #2 in Dumbo, every darn weekend. (He's also a professional cat massager at Hope Veterinary Clinic...seriously. See below.)

The Hunt was over quick, as expected--what with 9000+ folks coming through Saturday. What a beeyooteefull day.

In addition to the fine folks above, a nice lady found the wave-design T-shirt at Flux Productions, who everyone always loves.

Left to right:
The Greenland Whale engraving was found by Jason Factor of Fort Greene (right) at 10:49am. He was clearly pleased about it, as was Ralph from the Intaglio Antique Prints + Maps booth. Intaglio comes down from Western Mass. to do Fort Greene and Dumbo, but this weekend is their last for a bit.

This lovely lass at right found the Trifari beaded bracelet at the Found by Susan Walker booth, but Susan's not in the pic because she took it. Oh well. Susan's a cool lady from Providence with great vintage jewelry and other trinkets, and she's also an awesome rollerderby gal.

The Hunt was fierce this weekend, likely due to the 8000+ visitors we had over the 2 days! Good lord was the market glorious.

Things were so hectic that we missed taking a pic of the Day 2 winner, who found the pretty porcelain mug at Lois Aronow's table. Thanks Lois!

The funky tabletop clock was hidden amongst Jaron's awesome mid-Century finds. Donna Testino from Bricktown, NJ, snagged it at 1:20p.m. on Saturday.
