Hello - Does anyone know of a good brunch place near the flea? I like le bagel delight but i am looking for a sit down place. Thank you!

I prefer yesterday's studio b/c of its proximity to prospect park and the 2/3 train. The griffin is a beautiful building w/ great views but I think this studio is way overpriced.

My friend's co-op building limited the delivery folks, so they would stop sticking menu's under everyone's door. I would prefer to put up with the occasional menu for the convience of getting food delivered to the door!

The fingerprint on my stainless steel makes me yern for my old white appliances. Unless you have cleaning help opt for a color!

Posted by: ebklyn at February 24, 2010 1:55 PM in response to Alternatives to Stainless Steel

Love it, its a great location and layout! and I am beginning to covet white/black appliances with all the handprints on my stainless. The wine fridge is a nice plus (especially given the proximity to big nose full body)

I think it will do very well, lots of foot traffic around that block. Hopefully it will open in the morning to catch the folks on the way to Union Street R/M.

A friend had parked at the garage on 4th ave. and was told it was closing (its still open!). I thought the finacing for the condo was slowing things down but Benson found the real answer! I still wish it would become a whole foods. The warehouse often doesn't shovel after the snow and it becomes an ice rink walking to the train.

Posted by: ebklyn at January 29, 2010 12:21 PM in response to Nothing Doing at Whole Foods Site

Why can't whole foods open on 4th ave. between 1st and 2nd?that garage is slated to be torn down... Or anyplace in park slope...I'm still jealous about trader joes.

Wow! That house is unbelievable. And if I win the lottery, mine.

Posted by: ebklyn at January 28, 2010 1:25 PM in response to House of the Day: 7 St. Marks Avenue

Melt food is fine but the service is terrible! We kept going back, the service got slower, the wait for a table longer and the restaurant itself louder. I cringe just thinking about that place. Alchemy down the block is so much better, I would eat at the Atlantic Center McDonald's before melt.

I used to order from Lemongrass - but agree Mee Thai is very fresh and has taken the lemongrass's spot. I like Song but its really loud in there, yes I feel old typing that.

For the price I would expect the 17th street house to have a snazzier kitchen.

I liked the simone, but was glad I didn't end up buying there. I do think its a great quiet location for the right person...but not if it has rats!

The food is good and the location is fabulous. They have a large space for parties/showers and valet parking for guests.

Thanks 11217 - I love stone park's brunch and the crowds have been mellower through the summer. I am dreading the longer waits.

I don't think of this place as fast food and am interested in people's opinion...since I'd rather go to press 195 for a sandwich or s'nice. but why no menu? =(

I love the apt. but the half fridge is a killer for me!

Posted by: ebklyn at August 3, 2009 1:57 PM in response to Co-op of the Day: 32 South Oxford Street

Windsor Terrace is holding up quite well price wise w/ the condo today and the 1.5mm house. Its a great neighborhood, the F train is the biggest drawback!

The food is ok, especially the brunch. Its best to go at off hours b/c when its crowded you will NEVER see your waiter.

I wish Whole Foods would look at some of these sites on 4th.

cmu -I think people on bikes should wear helmets for the same reason people in cars wear seatbelts b/c accidents happens regardless of how careful you are. I think its a shame when people get hurt.

Trader Joe's was able to open a store in Bklyn. I can't understand what is taking Whole Foods so long to open here. I love the store but am not shopping there anymore.

The two one-bedrooms listed are a bit pricey..maybe I was too hard on yesterday brooklyn heights apt.

I love them and appreciate the skill that went into making them!

Cute apt, but the lack of kitchen pics, makes me a bit nervous. How far is it from Grand Army Plaza?

The flea was wonderful today! Good work...I'm so glad its outside again and the weather cooperated.

The Griffin sale looks like a great deal. I wonder what condition the apt. was in.

Posted by: ebklyn at April 17, 2009 11:47 AM in response to Brooklyn Sales: Under a Million

The pictures were taken on a very overcast day it seems and do nothing for the listing. I do think its a great location though, but the kitchen is a bit too small for me! What price would you expect?

Posted by: ebklyn at March 31, 2009 12:58 PM in response to Co-op of the Day: 60 Plaza Street East

Its a cute apt., not too far from the F train...the low maintance makes the price more palatable.

The Reeve Place house is nice, but way too expensive for that neighborhood. Why didn't they add a 2nd full bath?

Totally agree with 11217. Leila is a great hairdresser/ colorist (far better than many of the expensive Manhattan salons) and the prices are very fair.

Bricktop please let me know when you go to Target..its always crowded and busy when I go! Sometimes I wonder if saving some $ on cereal is worth the trama.

The food is great. I agree the tables are close together but the food/service is good enough to make up for it. I prefer dinner to brunch, but brunch is good too. Aperitivo isn't being reviewed but its good, the service is a bit slow but very nice. Its a hard time to have opened and I hope they do well.

I'm curious if they adjusted for age. When I rented I was younger and skinner. I don't think the mortgage has made me fat! I don't think owning has made me that much happier but its nice to have some control over colors and design...but responsiblity can be a downer.

I have only eaten here 3 times - but it was very enjoyable. Its a nice quiet lunch spot during the week. The decor is fun and the service was great. I like farm on adderly - but this menu is a bit more basic and I prefer it!

Wow, what a beautiful house. I love it! If I am ever renovating a brownstone, I'm bringing these pictures.

A bunch of the birds live at greenwood cemetary. A tour guide told me the birds escaped from a South American shipment at the airport but they are from the Andes so they can handle the cold. They are a bit noisey so you might not want to invite them to your yard!

I think Star of India does a decent take out business. The food is good and the people in the restaurant are very nice. I too am suprised it doesn't do better...

I voted at ms 51 on 5th avenue. The line was very long but moved pretty quickly give the amount of people. If you are in line by 9pm - you have to be allowed to vote! The poll workers have a rought day ahead of them!

Great sandwiches and an unbelievable selection, including veggie options. The sangria is good as well. The only drawbacks are cash only and the service is attentive but the food takes a bit.

ebklyn wrote a review about Joya and Song on October 27, 2008 12:14 PM

Unfortunatly, I think Song had a fire recently. Its a bit loud - but inexpensive and yummy. I hope they open again soon. Its also cash only! I think Song is better then Joya.

I still have it too!

At a dinner party last Saturday I shocked people by mentioning I'd never had food delivered, even once, to my home in the 7+ years I've lived here.

rob rob rob, you can't just flip a doorman the bird and go on your merry way. Its private property! You try this in Brooklyn Heights or Park Slope and you'll be arrested. In other neibs you will probably get your ass kicked in right there and then.

Posted by: Minard Lafever at March 5, 2010 2:38 PM in response to Food Deliveries Allowed Upstairs

ML has the best explanation, thank you.

rob your knowledge of the law as usual is slim to none. The doorman is an invited employee, the doorman is also an agent of his employer. If the employer/building owner does not allow a certain class of people, then they are trespassing. The doorman can certainly stop a person from trespassing, just like an apt owner can.

No Class A office building in Manhattan allows food delivery men except for large parties which have to go up the freight elevator. Like minard says, it's security.

I think this is one of the few cases where size actually doesn't matter.

Posted by: DitmasSnark at March 5, 2010 3:12 PM in response to Food Deliveries Allowed Upstairs

Class A office buildings are the best, most modern office buildings with the latest mechanical equipment and facilities. They will command the highest rent in a given market. While size doesn't completely matter, a three story building wouldn't qualify. I'm not aware of any office buildings in SoHo that would be considered Class A, except maybe the 32bj HQ at 101 6th Ave.

Is there any better profession for professional and amateur thieves (or worse) alike? Think about the screening process for delivery employees.

This rule is common, not just for liability and menus, some of these people are downright shady. You don't necessarily want to let them loose in the building you call home.

With a certain Fresdirect truck that sets up camp in on a certain corner Manhattan i've seen fights on the street, domestic disputes on the phone in mid-delivery (swearing, death threats, etc) - and this was only my own personal experience. Some of these people act like the only inside building they've ever seen is Rikers.

All it takes is one bad apple, which in a busy building would not take long. It seems like an inconvenience to you, until you don't feel safe anymore in your own building. There is no price for that.
