would be fun to know what all the historical figures are depicted in the limestone frieze/frame around the entrance to BFS.
Moses, Hammurabi, Napoleonic Code, founding fathers, Magna Carta and more, but even the school couldn't tell me which all they were

i expect drive was in center lane on Boerum going south, which is marked for straight ahead, and tried to turn left, which is allowed only from left two lanes, not center he/she was in

hate to see it in one sense, though drivers just roll through that stop sign, which is taken as an advisory so dangerous

post called Henry's End a bar, rather it is a superb little restaurant with a great american wine list

Polemicist said it best, result of zoning law and also desire for retail space

i believe developers of 4 water bought site from someone else.

I heard different, but could well be wrong. I was told severe neighborhood opposition held him up so long he decided to sell. But you could well be right.
Very interesting about 4 Water. Took about four years to build 14 apartments.... of whatever it is.... ridiculous
The agency is overwhelmed, you say not?
Posted by: chrishavens at August 13, 2010 2:16 PM in response to Scaffolding Goes Up on Old Fulton
Minard, issue is radical regs and opposition from Heights prevented previous owner from renovating as resi during market peak. Would have been done already if not so much opposition from locals who thought it should stay commercial. Absurd.
And 'do just fine' under landmark designation? who are you talking to? agency was understaffed five years ago, everyone says they are a nightmare due to staffing levels, single decision makers, and no appeals process no wonder homeowners ignore regs and reface properties w/o filing
minard, please talk to more architects and builders who deal daily with LP agency before you say that.

cool, gotcha....

BKLYN Heights tortured last owner when he tried to convert these to resi. BH wanted them to stay commercial! so he sold them. These buildings are rotting because of landmarks law, shortsighted neighbors and the huge obstacles to developing in this city. Making it harder to build helps no one, reduces employment, raises prices on units and slows the economy. Its the regs stupid.

Blofeld, whomever he is, is not the developer, i know them personally. And there are THREE exposures for each unit, not one, DeLepp. There cross breezes, don't rely on one photo.
And be sure to follow that guys/gals advice, Caveat Emptor.
Some buildings are built better than others. Way better.

Maly, actually the last big run up in prices in NYC was NOT linked to job growth. 80 DeKalb is 85% leased. Market has bottomed. not saying prices will improve, but activity is up and will stay up. The times they are a changing.

building quite deep, architect/developers know what the are doing, and know how to handle those issues.... easy

The issue is really one of unsafe driving. I love the campaign telling drivers to LOOK. Bikers should too, far too many run stop signs, go up one way streets, blow lights and just plain don't LOOK.

EDGE is superb and will sell. You all so out of touch with current williamsburg buyer, which includes families, very middle upper middle type folks, retirees, small island refugees whole market there has changed, this is not hipster product and next to state park
issue in WBurg is quality of construction, this will be among the best (and even the shit is selling)
