Prost!
SmorgasBar is flying the coop—but just for a day. And only sort of. In our own version of Oktoberfest (and also the sixth monthly "Kitchen Island" with Brooklyn Kitchen) we're bringing in three small local and regional breweries that aren't, wait for it, from Brooklyn. We'll be pouring three special seasonal brews—Barrier Brewing Co.'s Impostor Pilsner, Newburgh Brewing Co.'s German-style "Gose", and the ESB English-style ale from Rockaway Brewing Co.—behind the SmorgasBar ropes. And to get all German/Austrian about it, the beloved Pelzer's Pretzels will set up beside the bar for the day, where they'll debut their fancy new pretzel cart!
In addition to the one-day-only varieties above, we've also got a few new SmorgasBar staples on the weekly menu. For cocktail drinkers, Barkeeper Brendan is now mixing our own strawberry lemonade—Smorgasade, to be precise—to add to NY Distilling Co.'s Dorothy Parker gin, Breukelen gin, or Kings County Distillery's bourbon. For the oenologists (or if you just like wine), two new drops: Brooklyn Winery's Riesling and Brooklyn Oenology's Shindig. And for beers: Brooklyn Brewery's "Radius," a Belgian-inspired session ale is here for fall; Sixpoint's Crisp lager is on the docket; and our pals at Kelso have introduced a Belgian Pale Ale available exclusively at SmorgasBar. Talk about a heady brew. Zum Wohl!
