Meatopia at Smorgasburg

Meatopia started out eight years ago as carnivorous food writer Josh Ozersky's birthday party for his friends and colleagues. Now it's a gigantic meat-lovers extravaganza, one of the most highly anticipated food events of the season.

What does this have to do with Smorgasburg? This Saturday, July 16, Josh Ozersky himself will be on hand at the market to cook up some special Pat LaFrieda "Blue Label" smoke burgers with grilled onion, and Meatopia tickets will be available for purchase at Smorgasburg for 15% off the regular price.

The 2011 edition of Amstel Light Meatopia is quite something: it's an ambitious, whole-animal BBQ fest at Pier 5 Brooklyn Bridge Park on Saturday, July 23, featuring 45 of the country's top chefs paired with some of the New York area’s best farms. Participating cooks include such superstars as Michael White, April Bloomfield, Nate Appleman, Jon Shook and Vinny Dotolo and Flea fave Noah Bernamoff of Mile End.

Stop by the Meatopia booth on Saturday to learn more about why this is an event not to be missed.
