What's New?

Only one new vendor this week, and it's a sweet one. (But just you wait till next week, when we get outside with a slew of new stuff, both edible and otherwise. You're not going to believe it!)
Ben Marcus hosted a supper club, Social Eats, for six years before he branched out into the world of...canele. What's a canele you ask? A canele is a French pastry (native to Bordeaux, in fact), a marriage of cake and custard, a kind of portable creme brulee. Social Eats/Canele Bordelais is here to educate you further, and we'll let Ben explain why they're so good: "I love them because the unique crunchy outside and the custardy inside provide a really interesting contrast. Most people I give them to think they are actually chocolate because of the caramelized crust, and then give a 'Ooh!' when they taste the creamy inside." The real-vanilla-flavored canele come in two sizes, bouche (one bite) and grande (4-5 bites). His eventual goal is to be a supplier of canele to various restaurants around the city. Help him realize his dream this weekend at the Flea, where you'll find him downstairs in the food area on Saturday.
