Eddie Huang=Flea Food Vendor
February 3, 2011 | Filed In: Blog
Note: This is the debut post by our new Flea blogger Jane! Please welcome her warmly.
This Sunday we try something new on for size: through our new pals at LUCKYRICE we're celebrating Chinese New Year by hosting a local Asian-influenced chef as a monthly guest food vendor. We're starting off the series, which will run one Sunday a month through April (maybe longer, who knows), with the notorious Eddie Huang of Baohaus (and Xiao Ye RIP).
Huang is known for being a bit of a madman: he became the city's most voracious Four Loko pusher, has a TV show in the works and, most importantly, his mom is super-cool. And it's his mom who's the inspiration for what he's serving this Sunday: a Chinese-takeout TV dinner with a meat entree and two sides, everyone happy in their little compartments.
Huang's been serving up this idea at Baohaus on Monday nights, and a recent version featured Miller High Life-braised oxtail with fennel, tomatoes and garlic confit; pot stickers; and yu choy sum with Chinese red sausage. It's a brilliant, twisted combination of the two best eating habits of lazy Americans on Superbowl Sunday: Chinese takeout and frozen dinners. Four Loko not included.
News on future guests coming soon.

I'm there! Amazing blog post from Mr Huang: http://thepopchef.blogspot.com/2011/01/how-my-chinese-dad-saved-my-life.html
Welcome Jane, or shall I say, "right on!"
