Good Times!

Vendors are fun and interesting on the weekends. Turns out many of them actually do other stuff during the week that's also/almost as cool. The New York Times has been all over this concept.

To wit:

Brandi Kowalski helps Donna Brady rehab and sell the retro typewriters that are all the rage at the Flea (and in the Wall St. Journal) these days. She's also the manager and mixmaster at Elixir Bar, the fresh fruit and juice spot behind Jean-Georges Vongerichten's new ABC Kitchen. Read all about in this fun food-section story in the Times' T.

Katy Maslow and Michelle Inciarrano are the stars of a Times Home & Garden story titled "Terrariums Make A Comeback," which author Emily Weinstein seems to have used the Flea for as inspiration. (Totally cool with us, Em, obv.) You've been living under a rock if you hadn't noticed the boom in all things garden-related lately—planting is the new crafting, judging by new vendor applications for the Flea. Anyway, Katy and Michelle's Twig Terrariums is a new business involving found apothecary jars, moss, and miniature mugging scenes, and you can next find them at the Flea on June 19.

Late-breaking addition! Fat Dog Fabrication, Don Wood's innovative local carpentry biz that incorporates used glass into benches, stools, and even dog bowls, is part of a post on The Local blog about a glass-recycling effort going on in Fort Greene Park. More goodness.
