Flea for Haiti

redcrosslogo.jpg
All weekend we'll have a Red Cross collection box at the front kiosk at One Hanson for anyone who wants to donate funds to the relief effort in Haiti. You can't miss it when you walk in.

Many of you know longtime vendors Lionel and Constant, two brothers from Haiti who call themselves Nenenn155 at the Flea and who are among our most-loved characters within the market community, the sweetest guys. They're Brooklynites with families now, and last Monday they returned home to Haiti to see their ailing mother, who they visit regularly.

We're hoping that the lack of communication in general to Haiti is why we haven't heard back from them this week, and we speak for everyone at the Flea in saying that we're concerned and thinking of them pretty, well, constantly.

Update: We got word late last night that Lionel and Constant are OK! More news as we get it.
