« Finders/Keepers August 15/16 - Vendy Vini Vici! »August 19, 2009Brooklyn Flea Named #1 Flea in U.S.Some big props for The Flea! Cree McCree, who literally wrote the book on flea markets (Flea Market America) and is a veteran herself of ye olde Broadway + Canal flea, launched her new presence as the "Flea Queen" on the Discovery Channel website Planet Green with a round-up of the Top 5 markets in America. Some classic long-running markets on the list: Rose Bowl, Woodstock Mower's Saturday, G-Town in D.C. But some year-and-a-half-old newbie came out on top, the Brooklyn Flea? Never heard of it. We love our little markets, glad to know you do too. See you at the Flea! Note: Feel free to fawn over the Flea on Trip Advisor, which has a new Flea thread. In Texas, Arizona, New Mexico, and Nevada there are some serious flea markets off the beaten path that are more or less must-see destinations if you're driving through of how a certain other half lives. For this author to pick the Brooklyn Flea as the best, wow. Posted by: infinitejester at August 19, 2009 11:57 AM Congrats! Well done. Posted by: InsertSnappyNameHere at August 19, 2009 12:05 PM BS. Posted by: gnapoleon at August 19, 2009 12:36 PM A flea market or swap meet is a type of bazaar where inexpensive or secondhand goods are sold or bartered. Therefore they are not mutually exclusive; you can have an expensive flea market. However often associated with being inexpensive. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flea_market Posted by: ftgreenepark at August 19, 2009 12:58 PM Love the Bkln Flea! Congrats! Posted by: bupe at August 19, 2009 3:01 PM The BK Flea is OK, but best in the country? Really? I haven't been to Brimfield in years, but I recall it being about 100 times larger, better and cheaper. Congrats, though. Posted by: DitmasSnark at August 19, 2009 3:31 PM |
